Faith at Home
Here are some ways Melinda and Dutch Schoenfeldt have been living their "faith during quarantine."
During Parish Council (virtual meeting), we discussed what devotional practices we have undertaken during the Covid quarantine, making receiving the Eucharist and Confession unavailable. Bless Fathers Dudzinski and Kalu for making daily and Sunday mass available through livestream. It is wonderful to see and hear our beloved priests. I seldom attended daily Mass before, but have found myself drawn to my computer most days!
Dutch and I have begun saying 15 Our Fathers each day (and will for an entire year) in honor of Our Lord Jesus' 5,000+ wounds. I had been reading about St. Bridget of Sweden which lead me to the following:
Private revelation to St. Bridget of Sweden indicated that all the wounds Our Lord suffered added up to 5,480. She began to pray 15 prayers each day in honor of each of these wounds, their total after a year being 5,475; these "Fifteen Prayers of St. Bridget of Sweden" are still prayed today. Likewise, in Southern Germany, it became the practice to pray 15 Our Fathers a day in honor of Christ's wounds so that by the end of a year, 5,475 Paters were prayed. We have just recently started a Mary Garden. "
A Mary Garden is a garden filled with plants, flowers and trees named for Our Lady and Jesus. They are designed to be places of beauty that remind us of our Lord and Lady, allowing us to experience God's creation, and inviting prayer and contemplation."
Here are some good websites
Mary Garden :: Catholic News Agency (CNA)
Cheryl Dickow is a Catholic wife, mother, author and speaker. She co-authored and published the best-selling All Things Girl books and co-hosted the EWTN 13 part television series of the same name.
There were many good articles about using a Mary Garden to help teach the Catholic Faith to children, plus having the children help plant and tend the garden is beneficial.
